Where Do You Run?
“You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.”- Psalm 119:114
There were many things that terrified me as a kid: The dark, sunburns, riding a bike, vegetables, but there was one that took the cake: Thunder. Every clap of it following up the beauty of lighting sent me into retreat. When you were a kid and it started thundering at night, or when you got scared of the dark, where did you run to? The refuge of your parents? A hiding place? You went where you would feel safe. When tragedy strikes, when times get tough, when anxiety gets the best of us, when we feel hopeless, where do we turn to? Where do we find that hope and strength? This morning, whatever you may be facing or have faced in the past, remember who is always by our side, who has brought us through the toughest of days, the hardest of nights, and calls us His beloved, calls us more than conquerors, and who is working in the circumstances and tough days to come. Praise Him for the people He has placed around us that help us through those moments, that unite around us in strength, in love and hope and point us back to Him in all of it.
Whatever has come, whatever may come, know that you will never be alone.
