Share The Joy

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” — Romans 12:15

In late August, our church ran Revival Nights for 3 nights to come together, pray and be challenged by the Holy Spirit at several different campuses. On the third night, at the end of the night, I got to run into a dear friend, Austin Guzman, and the joy we had embracing one another in a brotherly hug was special, not only because of how much Austin has come to mean to me since I’ve met him, but also because he had just helped baptize someone who meant a great deal to him. But here’s the funny part, as I’m walking out, I look at my arm to see it bleeding and wondering why and how on earth that I drew blood. Then I remembered, in my excitement of seeing Austin, my arm hit something and I brushed it off, not knowing my arm had swung and hit a nearby chair, causing blood to be shed. Now let’s take the focus elsewhere: The joy of doing life with people. Every day, we get this privilege of doing life with others, and whether you are an extrovert like me, or an introvert, we have people that we get excited to see and be around. Life is short, it’s fragile, and we are not promised tomorrow, so my challenge to us is to not let moments like I described pass without acknowledging how special they are. People cross our paths in different seasons of life, so cherish the moments of life we get to share excitement, joy, love, and laughter with one another. It’s not just the good times either, it’s standing with someone in their grief, supporting them on a tough day, walking through the fire and challenges of every day life with them, life was never meant to be lived alone and we were not created for us to be emotionless robots. Share your joy, share your love, share your excitement with those around you, and never let that die. Continue to create memories, continue to bless others, and continue to shine like Jesus in a world that needs Him more than ever.
