Praying Over Someone Else’s Story
“In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears."- Psalm 18:6
Books are a phenomenal source of many things. Thought, storytelling, joy, suspense, laughter, anger, healing from trauma, identifying with a story, that’s the beauty of books. We can get lost in the story. We get caught up in the storylines, the plot, the chapters roll together and before you know it, you’re on to the next book, the next story, but instead of stories on a page today, I want us to take a different take on a different story. I want you to think of your story this morning. The story that is your life. Think of the moments of distress, of triumph, of uncertainty, of confidence. In each of those times, there were prayer warriors interceding on our behalf, playing a role in the background of our chapters. Parents, friends, loved ones, teachers, neighbors, strangers, you never know who could have prayed for you when you felt you were at your lowest or prayed for you to come to know Jesus as Lord. You never know who could be praying for you right now. Who do we need to be prayer warriors for? The waitress who served you last week? The student trying to continue their education? The prison inmate searching for hope? Start today in intercession, pray over people as you pass them today, because even if you may not know them, He does, and He hears our cries and prayers. Let’s step confidently to His throne in prayer today and play a part in praying over the story He continues to write for someone else.
