Step Outside

“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.” -Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬

Have you ever been inside a soundproof room?

It’s strange.

You can make noise, but it doesn’t travel very far. You can speak, sing, clap, or even shout, and the sound has nowhere to go.

Now imagine doing that with your life.

God has given you gifts.
He’s given you talents.
He’s given you a story.
He’s given you a voice.
He’s given you something that only you can bring into the world.

But sometimes we put ourselves in a soundproof room.

We keep our gifts hidden because we’re afraid of what people will think.

We don’t use our talents because we don’t think they’re good enough.

We stay quiet because we’re afraid of being rejected.

We convince ourselves that what we have to offer isn’t significant enough to matter.

And just like the sound in a soundproof room, what God placed inside of us can become trapped.

Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)

Your gifts weren’t given to you so you could hide them.

Your story wasn’t redeemed so you could be ashamed of it.

Your voice wasn’t given so you could remain silent.

Your light wasn’t meant to stay behind closed doors.

That doesn’t mean you need to put yourself on display for attention or applause.

It means you can step outside the room.

Use what He’s given you.

Create.
Serve.
Encourage.
Worship.
Speak.
Love people well.
Tell your story.

Let the world experience what God has placed inside of you.

Because there is someone who may need the very thing you’ve been afraid to share.

Don’t let fear turn your life into a soundproof room.

Step outside.

Let it be heard.

Let it shine.

And let God use it.
