Be Still

“Be still and know that I am God.”- Psalm 46:10

A few months ago, I attended a concert with my good friends and a thought crossed my mind: What if during the songs, everyone stood completely still? A funny thought, but it sparked even deeper thoughts in my brain. Have you ever found it hard to be still? (I’m raising both hands because undiagnosed ADHD for sure). A line at Disney, sitting in traffic, but let’s go deeper here. Maybe we are waiting on a breakthrough, for God to move and we are too busy moving and trying to do things on our own, we are not being still and trusting in His timing. We must choose to be still and relent to our desires, our timing, our wants, and surrender to what He has, as hard as it may be to remain calm, at peace and still. Yesterday is in the past, let’s leave it there. Tomorrow will worry about itself, let us be still in the present. Let us love hard today, knowing the King is on the move. Let us forgive those who have hurt us, letting freedom be found. Show yourself grace if you have struggled to lately, remind yourself of the promises that are renewing daily through His truth and creation. Lay your cares and burdens at His feet, He is welcoming them with open arms as He calls you by name. Embrace where He has you. Embrace someone walking through a hard season. Embrace someone who pushes your buttons. Be love. Be peace. Be grace. Be surrender. Be expectant. Be Jesus.
