Undeserved Grace
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”- Hebrews 4:16
Several years ago, I got pulled over for driving on an expired tag on my way to a concert. The officer could have brought down the hammer on me, he could have had my car towed, given me a hefty fine, scolded me for being a hoodlum, but he didn’t do any of those things. He showed undeserved grace by giving me a 3 day grace period to have my tag renewed and let me off after that. Unexplainable mercy and undeserved grace, sounds familiar doesn’t it? That moment still sticks with me because it reflected the nature that our Father in Heaven has for us in every breath. His love is endless, His grace is sufficient, His mercy is overwhelming, and saved us from eternity apart from Him. Hallelujah. Who needs that same grace from us today or this week? Mend a broken friendship, forgive someone who has treated you poorly, be slow to honk at that person in traffic, be quick to the same mercy and grace He gives us every moment, and remember that you also may need that grace, you may be putting all the pressure in the world on yourself, so be gentle with yourself, be kind and show yourself that grace as well. Let’s go.
